Design Problem #1: Many responsive websites designed for online food ordering struggle to maintain a consistent brand identity in their external interfaces. Additionally, these platforms often suffer from poor navigation and usability, creating a frustrating experience for users.

Design Solution #1: Design a responsive website that delivers a seamless online ordering experience while staying true to the brand's playful personality and vibrant identity.

AhbA | UX Design

Responsive website design and mobile app for AhbA restaurants in Orange County. Spec case-studies completed during Google UX Design Certificate Course.

After conducting user research, creating personas, and identifying pain points in the user journey, I created a sitemap, paper-wireframes, and finally created a low-fidelity prototype. Because I knew the final prototype would be very colorful, I ensured every color combination was compliant with web accessibilty guidelines, and included a readily accessible high-contrast mode button.

Through conducting a usability study, I found two key insights. The arrows to edit delivery time were too small, and the suggested items horizontal menu was not intuitive. In my final high-fidelity prototype, I addressed those two concerns, along with adding in AhbA’s lively colors and unique branding.

To create a responsive design, I built the mobile wireframes based on the web version of this site.

From there, I created another high-fidelity prototype for the mobile-optimized version of the website.

Design Problem #2: The line at AhbA can get very long, disrupting the foot-traffic flow in the surrounding area, and leading to customer frustration.

Design Solution #2: Create an in-restaurant ordering app that lets customers place their orders digitally, bypassing the single cashier. This allows them to sit down immediately, reducing congestion and enhancing their overall experience at AhbA.

Using the UX design process, I designed this high-fidelity mobile app prototype. The app enhances the customer experience by immersing the user in the AhbA branding while streamlining the ordering process.
